Graffiti

As an extra piece of work I decided to use my flower piece to do graffiti influenced by swoon. I simple just glued this on to a wall in the classroom.

Up to now...

Up to now I have got 4 days to go until hand in and I don't think I have got very far. Starting college a week later has put me in a bad position and if i had that extra week I would feel in a much stronger position so I am starting to panic a bit. So far this is as far as I have got and I don't feel like it is good enough for a final piece.

After getting feedback from my tutor I have been given the idea to carry on photocopying my work and keep sewing so that the sewing would build up and get thicker and hopefully will look more interesting.

Experimenting

To start my sampling I was thinking more into swoons work and I noticed how busy looking her work looks with lots of patterns and colours so I decided to try and create some backgrounds to start me off. When thinking about colour I couldn't think of anything better than marbling so I did some pieces, and then I did some simple drawings over the top just to see what it looks like.

I then looked at the back and decided I liked that side the most.

So I photocopied the back and planned on working onto the photocopies.

Artist Research

Most of the artist from my list are fine art painters and as beautiful as the paintings are, it is not my style of work and I feel I would find it difficult to reinterpret this in my own way. Although, I have found some artists that have interested me.

The first is Swoon.

What I like about swoon is the messiness of it. I wouldn't feel like I have to be too precise and I could be free with my sketches. If I was to do this in my own style I would make lots of different backgrounds and use lots of different materials and then do an ink drawing over the top.
Thinking about the colour in this artists work it reminded me of another artist that I had heard of. Her name is Marion Bolognesi.

I love the colours she uses in her work and how she dosent paint the whole face. This particular artist uses watercolour and I think it works really well.

Transcription

Today is my first day of my art foundation course and after being introduced to the brief I have started to look at a list of artists that have their work displayed in my local gallery. This project is called transcription so we have to basically find pieces of work that we like to use as inspiration to make a new fresh piece  of art based of a certain style of work.
At the moment I am feeling good about this project and I am excited to see what how I interpret other peoples work.
